Community Safety Day Slated for September 16

Join us on Saturday, September 16 from 10 am to 2 pm at the township administrative complex on Dixie Highway for Middleton Township Community Safety Day. This fun and educational event is designed for the whole family and is an outstanding opportunity to see your township first responders in action as they demonstrate the expertise, equipment and procedures used to save lives and protect property.

Other planned highlights include the landing and takeoff of ProMedica and Mercy Life Flight Air ambulances, extrication demonstrations, vehicles on display and demonstrations from county and state law enforcement, along with a live wire electrical safety demonstration.  There are many planned hands-on activities for kids of all ages and a food truck will be on site.

If you’re attending the Wood County Fair on Monday, July 31, stop by the Wood County Township Association rest shelter from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a meet and greet with your Middleton Township representatives. Whether you’re a long-time resident, new to the area or just looking for a quick break in the action, we welcome the opportunity to introduce ourselves. And on Friday, August 4, the Middletown Township Fire Department will be on hand all day at the fair to provide service in the event of an emergency. Be sure to say hi to your firefighters and get an up-close look at the trucks and equipment. MTFD personnel and vehicles will be staged in the depot area of the fairgrounds near the north side of the track.

The 2023 Wood County Fair runs from July 30 through August 6.

Annual Chicken BBQ

The Annual Chicken BBQ, hosted by the Middleton Township Firefighter’s Association has been set for Saturday, July 22.

There will be dine-in and carry-out service available beginning at 4:30 p.m. until gone!

New EMS Leaders Sworn In

A “pinning of the brass” ceremony was performed on March 2, 2022, at the Middleton Township administrative building as part of the swearing in of new EMS Chief, Jerry Saunders, and Assistant Chief, Ron Bogedain. Both of these veteran first responders have exhibited extraordinary leadership and emergency medical skills in the many years they have served Middleton Township and surrounding communities ‒ Saunders, for nearly 27 years, and Bogedain, 23 years. They were officially promoted by the township Board of Trustees in late 2021 and have been serving in their respective positions since that time. Congratulations, Chief Saunders and Assistant Chief Bogedain!

MTFD Chicken BBQ Coming Up!

Mark your calendars, bring your appetites and be sure to join us for the 2021 Middleton Township Fire Department Chicken Barbecue at MTFD Station 1, 101 W. Main Street, Haskins, on Saturday, July 31, from 4:30 pm until we’re sold out. Dinners will include 1/2 chicken, coleslaw, beans and a roll for $10. We look forward to seeing everyone again this year!

Community Invited to Participate in New Fire Truck Push-in Ceremony

The Middleton Township Fire Department is holding a push-in ceremony and dedication of a new fire truck on Saturday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at the Dunbridge Fire Station. The engine is a rescue/pumper manufactured by the Sutphen Corporation of Hilliard, Ohio.

The MTFD is dedicating the truck in honor of retired fire Captain Ron Asmus for his 50 years of service as a firefighter and leader of the department.

The community is invited to attend and encouraged to participate in this hands-on ceremony, and refreshments will be served. Note that Dunbridge Road between Dowling Road and SR 582 will be closed from approximate 11 a.m. to noon to accommodate the event.

MTFD 46th Annual Square & Round Dance Cancelled

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Middleton Township Fire Department Square and Round Dance scheduled for February 6, 2021, has been cancelled. We hope you’ll join us next year as we’re planning to kick up our heels and continue this fun mid-winter tradition on February 5, 2022.
