MTFD to Host 45th Annual Square & Round Dance

Get ready for a lively and entertaining evening at the Middleton Township Fire Department’s 45th Annual Square and Round Dance on February 1, 2020 from 8 pm to midnight at the Wood County Fairgrounds Junior Fair Building. Promenade to the sounds of the River Bend Band with friends and neighbors while shaking off the mid-winter blahs. The dance is BYOB − alcohol is permitted; setups, pop and snacks will be provided. The cost for the night’s worth of fun is only $15 for singles and $25 for couples. Check out the flyer here.

Public Safety Day Shines Despite Overcast Conditions

A good time was had by one and all last Saturday at Middleton Township’s second annual Public Safety Day. Township leaders appreciate all of the residents and visitors who turned out and are especially grateful to our state and local first responders, emergency management, medical, park district, utility and other organizations that exhibited and made this year’s event a rousing success! Demo Schedule, Featured Participants Set for Public Safety Day

Bring the whole family and join your neighbors, community elected officials and a host of first responders, law enforcement personnel, energy providers and more at Middleton Township Public Safety Day next Saturday, September 28. The fun kicks off at 11 am at the township administrative complex on Dixie Highway. This lively and informative event offers a great opportunity to see the vehicles, equipment and trained professionals who serve our community in action, including a fly-in by a Promedica air ambulance, weather permitting. Other highlights include an extrication demonstration by the Middleton Township Fire Department, a series of high-voltage demos by FirstEnergy and a bounce house for the kids. Free food and beverages will be available. Be sure to check the demo schedule below and stop by to meet your township and other local elected officials as well as the dedicated employees who serve you every day!

  • 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:30 pm: FirstEnergy High-Voltage Power Demonstrations
  • 1 pm: Promedica Air Ambulance Landing, Weather Permitting
  • 2 pm: MTFD Vehicle Extrication Demonstration

Date Set for Township Public Safety Day

Join us on Saturday, September 28 from 11 am to 3 pm at the township administrative complex on Dixie Highway for the 2019 Public Safety Day. This fun and educational event is designed for the whole family and is an outstanding opportunity to see your township first responders in action as they demonstrate the expertise, equipment and procedures used to save lives and protect property. Other planned highlights include the landing and takeoff of a Promedica Air ambulance as well as personnel, vehicles and demonstrations from county and state law enforcement, energy providers, ODOT and more. Refreshments will be served. Final preparations are underway and additional details will be posted to website prior to the event.

Haskins PD to Host National Night Out Festivities

The Haskins Police Department is proud to celebrate National Night Out with the village and surrounding communities on Tuesday, August 6, from 4 – 9 pm at Lusher Park. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie with the goal of making neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. So be sure to bring the whole family, tell your neighbors and come out to meet your local law enforcement team while enjoying free food, entertainment and fun activities for kids and grownups alike! See You at the Fair!

If you’re attending the Wood County Fair on Tuesday, July 30, take five from the festivities and stop by the Wood County Township Association rest shelter from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a meet and greet with your Middleton Township representatives. Whether you’re a long-time resident, new to the area or just looking for a quick break in the action, we welcome the opportunity to introduce ourselves and catch up. And, on Monday, August 5, the Middletown Township Fire Department will be on hand all day at the fair to provide service in the event of an emergency. Be sure to say hi to your volunteer first-responders and get an up-close look at the trucks and equipment. MTFD personnel and gear will be staged in the depot area of the fairgrounds near the north side of the track.

The 2019 Wood County Fair runs from July 29 through August 5.

MTFD Annual Chicken BBQ Coming Soon

The 2019 Middleton Township Fire Department Chicken Barbecue will take place at MTFD Station 1, 101 W. Main Street, Haskins on Saturday, July 27, from 4:30 pm until we’re sold out. Mark your calendars, bring your appetites and be sure to join us before we sell out. We look forward to seeing everyone again this year!!!
