Wreaths Across America Fundraiser

The Pemberville-Freedom American Legion Post #183 will host a “Quarter Frenzy” auction for the benefit of the Eastwood Community on September 26. Proceeds will be used to support the Wreaths Across America effort, by purchasing wreaths for placement on the graves of fallen U.S. veterans in cemeteries, including New Belleville Ridge Joint Cemetery in Dowling. This is part of a national annual campaign of remembrance and honor, with the placement of wreaths this year scheduled for December 18. Doors open at 5 pm and bidding starts at 6 pm. Township Community Safety Day

Sept. 18th. 10am to 2pm.

Fun for the whole family. Stop in for a fun and informational day, meet emergency service personnel, and enjoy a variety of safety demonstrations for the entire family!

Activities include:

  • BINGO
  • Snow Plow Painting
  • Bounce House
  • Sidewalk Chalk Art

Food will be available along with ice cream.

See You at the Fair!

If you’re attending the Wood County Fair on Tuesday, August 3, stop by the Wood County Township Association rest shelter from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a meet and greet with your Middleton Township representatives. Whether you’re a long-time resident, new to the area or just looking for a quick break in the action, we welcome the opportunity to introduce ourselves. And on Thursday, August 5, the Middletown Township Fire Department will be on hand all day at the fair to provide service in the event of an emergency. Be sure to say hi to your firefighters and get an up-close look at the trucks and equipment. MTFD personnel and gear will be staged in the depot area of the fairgrounds near the north side of the track.

The 2021 Wood County Fair runs from August 2 through August 9.

MTFD Chicken BBQ Coming Up!

Mark your calendars, bring your appetites and be sure to join us for the 2021 Middleton Township Fire Department Chicken Barbecue at MTFD Station 1, 101 W. Main Street, Haskins, on Saturday, July 31, from 4:30 pm until we’re sold out. Dinners will include 1/2 chicken, coleslaw, beans and a roll for $10. We look forward to seeing everyone again this year!

Community Invited to Participate in New Fire Truck Push-in Ceremony

The Middleton Township Fire Department is holding a push-in ceremony and dedication of a new fire truck on Saturday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at the Dunbridge Fire Station. The engine is a rescue/pumper manufactured by the Sutphen Corporation of Hilliard, Ohio.

The MTFD is dedicating the truck in honor of retired fire Captain Ron Asmus for his 50 years of service as a firefighter and leader of the department.

The community is invited to attend and encouraged to participate in this hands-on ceremony, and refreshments will be served. Note that Dunbridge Road between Dowling Road and SR 582 will be closed from approximate 11 a.m. to noon to accommodate the event.

New Belleville Ridge Cemetery to Hold Memorial Day Service

New Belleville Ridge Joint Cemetery will be holding a Memorial Day Service at 9:00 a.m. on the cemetery grounds. Rev. Bob Noble, interim pastor of Dowling Evangelical Lutheran Church, will be the officiant.  The Troy-Webster American Legion Post 240 color guard will be on site at 9:15 a.m.

Jeff Ford Memorial Tree Planting May 19; Trustee Meeting Start Time Changed

Please join local officials, friends and family members for the planting of a legacy sugar maple tree in memory of recently deceased Middleton Township Zoning Inspector and Road Maintenance Staff, Jeff Ford, on Wednesday, May 19 at 7 pm on the front lawn of the township administrative building. In light of this special ceremony, the start time of the May 19 Board of Trustees meeting has been rescheduled from 6 pm to 5:30 pm.

Long-time Trustee James Bostdorff Announces Retirement; Open House Slated for May 30

Middleton Township Trustee James Bostdorff will retire effective May 31, 2021. Jim has served on the Board of Trustees since 1992, making him one of the longest tenured elected officials in the history of the township. His leadership, insight and conservative fiscal approach have been instrumental in guiding our community forward for nearly three decades and making Middleton Township an exceptional place to live, work and grow. The public is invited to join us in honoring and thanking Jim for a job well-done on Sunday, May 30 from 2 – 4 pm at the township administrative building. Please note that masks will be required indoors.

MTFD 46th Annual Square & Round Dance Cancelled

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Middleton Township Fire Department Square and Round Dance scheduled for February 6, 2021, has been cancelled. We hope you’ll join us next year as we’re planning to kick up our heels and continue this fun mid-winter tradition on February 5, 2022.

New Belleville Ridge Joint Cemetery Memorial Day Activities: 21-Gun Salute, Wreath Laying Scheduled, On-Site Service Cancelled.

The Troy-Webster American Legion Post #240 Firing Squad will present arms with a 21 gun salute at New Belleville Ridge Joint Cemetery between 9:15 – 9:30 am this Memorial Day. Auxiliary Unit Poppy Girls, Jordan and Charlotte Durbin, along with Auxiliary President Becky Dippman, will place wreaths in memory of all deceased veterans. There will not be a service on the grounds this year, however.
